Bittersweet feelings at FBM & VIPS Playoffs

Prensa TBS -

, Basket Torrejón

Heartbroken during our VIPS League Playoffs run, but sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. In other categories, we achieved significant milestones, such as finishing fifth in Madrid in Junior A. That is what competition is all about! Our TBS teams are wrapping up their seasons, and in #LaCronica we will give you a recap of Torrejón Basketball Academy and our performance on the FBM basketball courts, both away games and home games at the Javi Limones and Nuria Fernández courts on April 25th and 26th, including the matchups and the next round:

The Girls Benjamin team (Second Year) reached the Playoffs in the Round of 32 and lost to C.B. Las Rozas away (47-22). It has been an exceptional season for the girls, heads held high. We are currently in the reclassification round for 17th-32nd place and will play away against GSD Baloncesto Alcalá on May 9th.

The Boys Under-12 First Year White team played away against C.B. Moratalaz on April 25th (26-64) and secured an important victory. They now head towards their next match against Marianistas Amoros on May 9th at the Javi Limones gym, with the time to be determined.

The Girls Under-12 First Year team lost away to Ábaco 01SF on April 25th (74-64). They will play Colmenar Viejo on May 9th at the Javi Limones gym, with the time to be determined. Their next match is scheduled for May 10th at 4:00 PM at the Javi Limones gym against Patrocinio San José.

The Under-12 Second Year Blue team had a disappointing day against Arganzuela Centro (61-46) on April 25th at home. They will play Pintobasket Negro again on May 10th at 4:00 PM at the Javi Limones gym.

The U12 Girls Second Year team is in the Playoffs. We played in the Round of 32 on April 11th at Javi Limones against GSD Baloncesto Alcalá. We are back in action in the FBM Gold League for the second year running. We played again on April 18th (54-52) away from home in a nail-biting game. Well done to José Gismero and his team! We are currently in the reclassification standings (17th-32nd place) and will play Virgen de Atocha on May 9th at Javi Limones in the morning.

The U12 Girls Second Year team also reached the Playoffs but lost to C.D. Estudio Blanco in the FBM Gold League Round of 32, playing away on April 18th (90-39). We are currently in the reclassification standings (17th-32nd place) and will play Pintobasket Naranja on May 9th at Javi Limones. Time to be determined.

The Girls U14 First Year team has now won in the Round of 16! Congratulations to Nerea Sánchez and her team. They triumphed against Uros de Rivas B at the Javi Limones stadium on April 25th (50-37). The highlights and best moments are available on our YouTube channel. We hope to secure the series and reach the Quarterfinals this Saturday. Uros de Rivas B will face them at 2:15 PM on May 9th at their home court.

The Girls U14 Preferente team had another great match between the first and second place teams, which ultimately fell short (40-34) against Santa María del Pilar A last Saturday. Congratulations to the girls, who remain in second place with a 15-3 record, tied with two other clubs. They begin the Round of 16 against Salesianos Paseo away on May 9th at 9:00 AM.

The Boys U14 First Year team added another victory and started off on the right foot in these Round of 16 matches. Congratulations! Victory (57-62) against Virgen de Atocha away from home on April 25th. We hope to secure this tie and reach the Quarterfinals next Saturday. We play Virgen de Atocha at Javi Limones on May 9th.

The Boys First Year Blanco team will have a bye this weekend, May 9th-10th. We will play Colegio El Prado on May 29th at 7:30 PM at Nuria Fernández. The Preferente A team improved to 21-1 after winning (20-70) against Pureza de María A away on April 18th. Having qualified for the Round of 16, we will face Valdefuentes Basket Futuro A away on May 9th at 10:45 AM.

The Under-14 B team could not secure a win at home (40-61) against C.D. Norte at the Javi Limones arena, and their next challenge is an away game on May 9th against Fénix Basket Club Boadilla at a time to be determined.

The Under-14 A team saw their winning streak and 2-0 record in the phase come to an end after falling on April 26th (48-98) at the Javi Limones arena against C.B. Ciudad de Móstoles. It was a very lackluster game, atypical for the rest of the year, but also acknowledging the quality of their opponent. They will play against Fundal Alcobendas B on May 10th at the Javi Limones arena at a time yet to be determined.

The Under-16 Women Preferente team traveled to Corazonistas Blanco with the obligation to win, and they did so (23-40). This victory provides some breathing room. They will await the reclassification standings to finish the season on a high note, coached by Tomás Morales.

The First Year Cadet team had another break on April 24-25 and returns to action on May 9, when we face C.D.B. Aquila at the Javi Limones arena. The game time is yet to be determined.

The White Cadet team could not secure a win at home (39-119) against San Agustín Madrid A. There was little they could do against the league leaders. Highlights of the game are available on our social media channels.

The B Cadet team could not find their footing in a memorable match against our A Cadet team (85-98). Ionut Andrés Campán was among the standout players for the opposing team. We will be in the reclassification round for positions 37-48 in Division 1. We play Baloncesto Leganés 2010 A on May 10 at 7:30 PM at the Carlos Sastre Pavilion.

The A Cadet team achieved victory in a memorable match against our B Cadet team (85-98). Ionut Andrés Campán was among our standout players. We will be in the reclassification round for positions 37-48 in Division 1. We play on May 10th at 4:00 PM at the Antonio Díaz Miguel arena against Baloncesto San Jorge 2011.

Junior Preferente Azul could not avoid defeat on April 26th (43-54) at the Nuria Fernández arena against La Paz C.D. They have a 2-3 record in this phase for positions 29-32 in the competition. We return to action on May 9th, playing away at 5:00 PM against Madrid FSM C.D.B B.

Junior Preferente has lost twice and was eliminated in the Round of 16, first on April 12th away against Ensanche de Vallecas A (72-66). We face this same opponent again on April 19th (47-56) at the Javi Limones arena.

Junior B had a bye this past weekend, April 26th.

Junior A reached the playoffs for 5th to 8th place in the Gold League, first defeating Baloncesto Fuenlabrada away (112-116) and then BT A at home in Torrelodones on April 21st. Last weekend, they cruised to a 103-77 victory over Real Canoe this past Sunday at the Javi Limones arena, winning all their remaining games. We are now fifth in Madrid in the Gold League! What a great season for the Colo Zuttion team, who gave the impression of being a Final Four contender.

Under-22 B rallied and defeated San Agustín Los Negrales on April 26th (62-93) away, securing their first win of this playoff for 29th-32nd place in the league. This coming May 10th, we will host C.D. Estudio at the Javi Limones arena; the time is yet to be determined.

The U22 Gold team won their playoff matchup in the Round of 16 (77-85) against Alcorcón Basket A, after the decisive third game on April 26th. We are through to the Quarterfinals! Congratulations to the Gregorio Recio team, who hope to emulate last season silver medal in the Gold Cup and bring home the Madrid title. Come on! We will play against CB Getafe A at their home arena, Juan de la Cierva, on May 10th at a time to be determined.

Torrejón Spartans lost their first Round of 16 game (82-74) against Spinola Chamartín on April 26th. The series returns to Javi Limones on May 10th at a time to be determined. The Tomás Morales team will be ready for a comeback.

And to finish #TheChronicle, the TBS National Senior team reached three games in their VIPS Round of 16 tie but could not pull it off (67-75) against Valcude Alcobendas, despite another great game from Carlos Abentín. Playing in a fantastic atmosphere with the home crowd cheering them on, it was a tough match, and the injuries that have plagued us this part of the season, including Roberto Donaire, Javier Sánchez, Jorge Herráiz, and others, have taken their toll. Applause for the team, who started the year by winning the VIPS Cup, for battling all year long. Time to recharge and come back for the same goal: the title and promotion to the FEB Third Division in 2026-2027.
